About the event
The Institute of Computer Science organizes a formal meeting of PhD students, which is also open to PhD students from other institutes, supervisors and senior researchers. This event is organized by students themselves and it is a unique opportunity to interact with other students. Links for previous years: 1996-2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016.
The objective of Doctoral days is to let each student to present his/her research in a form of a short talk and give an opportunity to meet people and make contacts.
There is no conference fee, everything is covered by the institution.
This year, the Doctoral days will take place in Kutná Hora in the hotel U Kata, 26th - 28th March 2018. Full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner) will be provided including coffee-breaks. In the hotel, there is a wellness, which is for free to hotel guests every day from 15:15 to 16:15 (this will be taken into account in the event program ☺).
On Monday, we will take the train at 8:05 from Hlavní nádraží - lets meet at 7:45 at Burger King. The arrival time on Wednesday will be specified later. This form of transport will be included, any other forms of transport you have to discuss with your department-chair.
Program is now available.
Beside the students' talks, there will be a guided city tour on Monday and bowling on Tuesday evening (bowling will be paid by participants themselves). There will be 3 invited talks
- doc. Zbyněk Pawlas (Matematicko-fyzikální fakulta UK): Náhodné mozaiky
- prof. Lumír Poláček (Archeologický ústav AV ČR): Nové výzkumy v Mikulčicích
- PhDr. Tereza Šírová (Ústav informatiky AV ČR): Využití vlastních článků v disertační práci
Each PhD student is supposed to give a 20 minutes talk (15 minutes presentation, 5 minutes discussion). In that time, he/she should present his/her research to the others. The audience is diverse in scientific interests, so the main stress should be put on motivation and introduction into the problem. A projector and a flipchart will be provided. Communication language can be Czech, Slovak or English. In case you do not understand Czech, please let us know.
Here we provide a list of general recommendation and tips for presentation.
